Prayer at Virginia House of Delegates

Gracious Heavenly Father, thank you for inviting us to come to you today. We bow to acknowledge you as the greatest source of wisdom, knowledge and strength. As our fathers before us we too acknowledge you as the one from whom our help comes.

Father, I thank you for your blessings upon us, The blessing of freedom that we willingly acknowledge comes from you. Thank you for a government that recognizes you as the source of all freedom and the one from whom all our rights are endowed. Father I thank you for every delegate here today, and their personal commitment to serve to protect our freedom.

Father we confess our sinfulness to you today and we ask that you would look upon us with mercy. Forgive us for the pride of our hearts that causes us to seek our own way when we should be delighting in yours. Forgive us for the disregard that we show for your law, in our some of our own laws.

Father I do not know all that will be discussed and debated on this floor today, but you do, and I ask that you the discussion would be in the best interest of your Kingdom and glory and for the good of this commonwealth, I pray that no one would speak for personal gain, with pride or to enhance their own popularity.

Father again we say thank you for your love, mercy, and your sovereign control in this world.

I pray and ask all these things in the name of Jesus my Lord, Amen.
